Captain Jack and his associates in the murder of General Canby and Mr. Thomas are to be hanged — that is, they are to be tried, as per orders form Washington, by Court Marshal and that means hanging. A special correspondence from Tule Lake Peninsula says: “General Davis gives me private information to the effect he intends to erect a scaffold and execute about a dozen of the worst murderers at sunrise tomorrow.”

A shallow scientist. The Virginia Chronicle contains an engraving of what a Comstock bedbug (cimex lecturdarious Comstockabus). The picture is just a lame attempt to portray the animal. He is just bumping his boat on the bank. It looks more like a Reno cockroach.

Friday afternoon will be given over to the Grand Army of the Republic entertainment in this city. The local members of the order, together with the ladies of the Relief Corps, have prepared a program and banquet. Of note is the Boys Choir of Appatomax Post of Oakland. They average 73 years of age.

A young man and woman were found apparently slain in the desert near Sand Springs Station, 15 miles east of Fallon. The couple had left Gowen Field, Idaho April 22 for March Field, Calif., and had not been heard from since.
