Aug. 26, 1943 - April 24, 2013

Anne Mary (Swaufield) Williams, age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.

Our beautiful, beloved mother was born on Aug. 26, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were J. Edward and Patricia Swaufield. Our mother spent her childhood in the beautiful suburban village of River Forest, Illinois. In 1961, she graduated from Trinity High School in River Forest, and attended both Webster College in Webster Grove, Missouri and Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She later returned to Chicago, where she found her true vocation and graduated from secretarial school. Using her secretarial skills, she began her career with Mercury Records and Weyerhaeuser Paper Company.

In 1966, our mother was married in River Forest to Gary Williams of Carson City, Nevada.

Our mother Anne, was a great asset to the State of Nevada, where she began working shortly after her move to Carson City. After 30-plus years of her extreme dedication to the State of Nevada, she retired from the Department of Prisons in September 2001.

Her biggest love was her six grandchildren and two daughters, who brought her so much joy.

Our mother was preceded in death by her parents and her longtime companion, Rueben Austin.

Survivors include her brother, Peter (Patricia) Swaufield; daughter, Marie (Stuart) Simonsen; grandchildren, Kayla, Alyssa and Garrett of Billings, Montana; daughter, Elizabeth Graunke; grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon and Natalie of Carson City; several loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many good friends who will miss her wonderful spirit and contagious smile. Wherever our mother went, she always had a way of drawing people close to her.
