July 7, 1940 - May 20, 2013

Passed away unexpectedly at home of a heart attack May 20, 2013 he was 72.

He was born July 7, 1940 to Leo H. Black and Mary Ellen Huff- Black in Newport, WA. He lived on the family homestead near Priest River, ID until 1950 when the family moved to Sandpoint, ID where his mother is still living.

Clair was a retired Carson High School teacher of 25 years, White Pine High School for four years and Ely Grade School one year, he enjoyed many things including motor homing, fishing, guns, flying, sports, world events, history and a big military enthusiast. He was a quiet man with a big heart and a smile on his face.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo H. Black (1907-1983) of Sandpoint, ID; brother, Michael H. Black (1935-2011) of Moses Lake, WA and brother, Glen W. Black (1937-2008) of Coeur d’Alene, ID.

He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Linda Black of Carson City, NV; a daughter, Niki R. Black-Branscombe and Don Branscombe of Dayton, NV; granddaughter, Lindsey M. Newman-Ross and Andy Ross of Spokane, WA; grandson, Adam T. Newman and Estrella Roche-Newman of San Antonio, TX and granddaughter, Katy M. Branscombe of Dayton, NV; step-son, Darrel Tenter and Darla Tenter; daughters, Elaina and Marissa of Helena, MT and step-son, Carl Tenter and Christy Tenter; sons, Carson and Colby of Bakersfield, CA; his mother, Mary Ellen Black 95 years young; brother, Duane L. Black of Sandpoint, ID and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Clair was cremated and requested no service; his ashes will be spread along with his father and brother near the family homestead.
