Pair arrested on drug, forgery charges

Two women were arrested on felony forgery charges Tuesday at Fairview Drive and Idaho Street after allegedly using fraudulent gift cards at Lowe’s nearby.

According to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office report:

Deputies were dispatched to the area about 11:10 a.m. after receiving a report of a black Infiniti being driven erratically. Its occupants were seen throwing things out the window.

Several Sheriff’s Office cars were involved in pulling the Infiniti over. The driver’s license of driver Markeisha Orviss, 22, of Pittsburg, Calif., was suspended.

Orviss consented to a search of the Infiniti, which yielded numerous prepaid credit cards and gift cards, receipts for several hundred dollars’ worth of gift cards, and a marijuana blunt in the ashtray. A deputy also found a Vicodin pill in passenger Kamesha Cooper’s purse; she didn’t have proof of a prescription.

Also according to the report: Orviss acknowledged to a detective that she’d purchased multiple fraudulent credit cards for $200, with the intent to purchase gift cards from various stores. Cooper, a 24-year-old transient, told the detective she’d agreed to come to Carson City and Reno to use the fraudulent cards.

Orviss was arrested on suspicion of felony forgery of a credit card or debit card; possession of a prescription drug without a prescription; possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana; driving on a suspended driver’s license; and reckless driving. Her bail was set at $8,900.

Cooper was arrested on suspicion of felony forgery of a credit card or debit card and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana. Her bail was set at $5,600.

Both were being held Wednesday afternoon at the Carson City Jail.
