A Fallon woman entered two pleas Tuesday in District Court to charges of an ex-felon not to possess weapons.
Jessica Jeanne Nunes pleaded no contest to one count of conspiracy of an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, a gross misdemeanor, and guilty to one count of attempt to possess an electric stun device by an ex-felon.
According to the criminal complaints, Nunes conspired with Raymond Leland King and Stephen Charles Cheek on or about Nov. 30, 2012, to possess a .300-caliber rifle in addition to two shotguns and a .380 pistol.
On Feb. 7, Nunes attempted to possess a Kelin K95 stun gun, which is a cellphone-style weapon.
Nunes’ attorney, Jacob Sommer, asked for his client’s release, but Judge Tom Stockard denied the request. Stockard said Nunes would only be released to an inpatient treatment program.
Nunes is also facing a simple battery charge out of Carson City, according to Sommer. She will be sentenced Aug. 13 and faces up to one year in the Churchill County Jail for the gross misdemeanor and one to five years for the stun gun.
Nunes was previously convicted of felony battery by a prisoner in lawful custody.
In other court news —
Travis Reed Johnson, 18, of Fallon entered a guilty plea Tuesday to one count of attempt to commit burglary.
On Jan. 19, Johnson acted as a lookout while James Marquez stole a PlayStation 3 video game device from a local residence, according to Churchill County District Attorney Art Mallory.
In addition, Johnson did not complete the required 24-hour community service ordered by Stockard for a failure to appear several weeks ago. Stockard, though, allowed the teenager through this week to finish eight hours of service.
Johnson will be sentenced Aug. 13 and is expected to apply for the Diversion Program, according to his attorney, Troy Jordan.
Michael Anthony Harris pleaded not guilty to one count of battery that constitutes domestic violence by strangulation.
A trial is scheduled for Sept. 4-6.
Harris is accused of strangling the mother of his child on May 20.
