The Western Nevada College Student Veterans Club is inviting veterans and their families to a barbecue Wednesday on the Carson City campus. The free event, which features traditional barbecue, takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the lawn and plaza area outside the Dini Library and Student Center.
The event offers veterans the opportunity to learn about health and educational benefits and services that are available through the veterans administration. Representatives from the Reno Veterans Center’s Veterans Integration To Academic Leadership program will be on hand to answer questions.
The WNC Student Veterans Club also will hold a membership drive during the event and answer questions about campus opportunities and services.

Easter Fiesta Offers Family Fun
Celebrate Easter at the Western Nevada College Latino Student Club’s Easter Fiesta. The fourth annual event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Rotary Plaza at WNC’s Carson City Campus. Families with children of all ages will enjoy coloring eggs, face painting, an egg hunt, bunny limbo, musical chairs and more.
Latino Club adviser Lupe Ramirez said the event is about more than just fun.
“While the fiesta allows families to enjoy a fun event in a safe environment, it’s also an opportunity to increase awareness about college,” she said. “It’s never too early to start talking to children about continuing their education. We want the kids to say, ‘Oh, this is college, this is where I want to come.’ That’s one of our goals.”
Attendees are invited to bring a camera and take a photograph with the WNC Wildcats mascot. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Admission is $1 for children age 5 and younger, and $4 for adults and children age 6 and older. Admission includes unlimited children’s games.
Proceeds benefit student WNC student scholarships. For more information, call 775-445-3344.
