Egg hunts galore

The bunny rabbit has a busy weekend planned with two days of Easter egg hunts at various locations.

The oldest Easter egg activity, which is sponsored by the Fallon Lions Club, begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Laura Mills Park.

Tom Lammel of the Lions Club said this egg hunt has been a Fallon tradition for more than 50 years.

“The Lions have had a long-term commitment for at least 35 years,” Lammel added.

He said prizes will be awarded in three age groups: 1-3, 4-6 and 7 and above.

Lions Club volunteers began boiling and coloring 5,000 eggs last night at Naval Air Station Fallon. Lammel said volunteers will then hide the eggs in the park sometime Sunday morning before the youngsters begin their search.

Another traditional Easter egg hunt occurs on Saturday on the grounds of the Old High School on South Maine Street. The weekend’s first egg hunt begins at 10 a.m.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars have been boiling and coloring hundreds of eggs for their free hunt and will then hide the eggs early Saturday.

Highland Village’s annual Easter egg hunt begins at 11 a.m. at 550 N. Sherman St. The sixth annual Easter Egg Stravaganza is for three ages: 0-3, 4-6 and 7-10. The free event will also include a bunny hops sack race, Easter baskets, cotton candy, bake sale and egg toss.
