Investigators from multiple agencies are looking into the deaths of five people, four in Fernley and another victim whose body was found in a ditch along Interstate 80.
The Associated Press reported on Tuesday the bodies of Robert Pape and Dorothy Pape, both 84, were discovered early Monday in a house in Fernley. Angie Duff, 67, and another man were found dead in a nearby home.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Nevada State Fire Marshall’s Office and the North Lyon County Fire Department continue to investigate the deaths and an associated residential structure fire in Fernley, along with an additional suspicious death on I-80 Eastbound at the Mustang exit.
LCSO reported numerous sheriff’s detectives along with Washoe County Forensic Investigative Services were focused on collecting evidence from one crime scene in Washoe County and two crimes scenes in Fernley, one on Tamsen Way and the other on Jessica Lane.
LCSO reported one person of interest, Jeremiah Bean, 25, of Fernley has been arrested and booked on burglary charges as a result of his arrest Monday, according to a Lyon County Sheriff’s Office press release. Bean was arrested on Monday near Tamsen Way. His bail has been set at $50,000.
Autopsies for the five victims are scheduled for Tuesday at the Washoe County Coroner’s Office. Positive identification of the victims had not been made as of the LVN’s press time.
