RENO — Nevada athletic officials say season tickets for this year’s Wolf Pack football games are selling at a record pace.

Associate athletic director Mike Samuels says they’ve already sold 1,100 new season tickets for Coach Brian Polian’s first year at the helm in place of longtime coach Chris Ault.

Samuels says that’s about five times the most new tickets ever sold previously in a single offseason.

He credits a boost of new energy that both Polian and new athletic director Doug Knuth are bringing to the program.

The biggest previous preseason ticket campaign through the end of May was about 200 following the 2010 season when Nevada ended the season ranked No. 11 nationally.

Samuels says season ticket renewals also are strong at a rate of nearly 86 percent.
