Judge Beatty has sentenced Alec Cohn, found guilty in White Pine County District Court of arson in the second degree, to imprisonment in the State Prison for the term of seven years. He set the match which burned down Hamilton. He wept when he got his sentence. His tears are all the “weepins” that are allowed.

130 years ago

Prison Tracks (continued from Thursday). They expected to find a room inside the mound. The two men claim they have located the mound and will allow no one else to work it. Warden Bell says the men are impostors and the relics are from Colorado. The other day a man who tried to enter the tunnel was ordered away with the muzzle of a shot gun.

100 years ago

The long-heralded Talking Pictures on Kinetophone, the invention of Thomas Edison, will have its last presentation at the Grand tonight. All those who have seen these pictures tell it all in one word: “Great!” The smoothness which marks the work of the Kinetophone is a source of amazement to everybody.

70 years ago

Ration book losers get little sympathy. Don’t lose your ration book because if you do, it will be a little difficult to get a replacement. Effective at once, applications will not be considered unless the applicant has advertised the loss of the book for two weeks in a daily newspaper.

While Mark Twain was reporting the Territorial Legislature in 1864, the Presbyterian Church was raising funds to build a church. They asked Mark to assist them in a benefit. Twain replied: “Certainly.”

Nicky Walker (17-1-1) will be the main event boxer at the seventh annual Nevada Day Eve Boxing Festival at the Community Center.
