State Controller Kim Wallin is launching her campaign for Nevada treasurer.
The Southern Nevada Democrat planned to make a formal announcement Tuesday at the Bar and Bistro in downtown Las Vegas.
Wallin is a certified public accountant and financial manager. She was elected controller in 2006 and served two terms.
A native Nevadan, Wallin graduated from UNLV with a major in accounting and a degree in business administration.
She hopes to replace current Treasurer Kate Marshall, who is running for secretary of state.
Republican Dan Schwartz also has announced his intent to seek the office in next year’s election. Schwartz ran in last year’s GOP primary for Nevada’s 4th Congressional District seat and lost to Danny Tarkanian.
Tarkanian was defeated by Democrat Steven Horsford in the general election.
