Senator Square: FFA students compete in national contest

The students and staff made it through another year of proficiency testing. We wait and see how the students fared.

We have no school Monday as CHS is closed for Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all of the courageous men and women who have served our country in both times of peace and war.

FFA TO NATIONALS

This past week, members of the Capitol FFA Chapter represented Carson High School at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky. Members competed in the National Agricultural Sales Career Development Event, which included an actual sales presentation, a written exam, team sales situation, an individual practical situation focusing on customer relations and customer service.

Capitol FFA brought back as a team a Bronze Emblem. Individual awards are as follows: Mikayla Story, Gold Emblem; Rachel Andersen, Silver Emblem; Kayla Hall, Bronze Emblem; Caden Lehman, Bronze Emblem.

CHS BOWLING CLUB

The CHS bowling club meets for pre-season practice every Monday and Wednesday at Gold Dust West from 2:30-4:30 p.m. New members are welcome. There will be a team meeting at 2:30 p.m. this Wednesday at Gold Dust West Bowling Center for any student who wants to bowl this season.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

This week the Senior Spotlight is on Matthew Salvador. Matthew maintains a weighted grade-point average of 4.24 while attending several advanced placement and honors classes.

He plans on attending either University of Nevada, Reno or University of Wisconsin. He would like to major in zoology, specializing in entomology (study of bugs).

Matthew has been part of our cross country and track and field teams for the last three years. He plans on joining the Carson High School swim team. He has also been a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). This year he is a middle school liaison for FBLA.

CHS is proud of Matthew and his accomplishments.

Angila Golik is a government teacher at Carson High School and a member of Senator Pride.
