Every Thanksgiving for more than 35 years, Christian Life Center has enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal with its congregation.
As they have done for several years, the church invites the community to join them again this year for a dinner at the Fallon Convention Center on Nov. 24 from noon to 3 p.m.
The church served more than 850 people last year for diner, which included not only church members but also invited guests, Naval Air Station Fallon personnel and community residents. This year, the church is expecting to serve more than 950 people.
Many congregation volunteers help with greeting, serving, providing kitchen service and cleaning tables and the kitchen. The Churchill County High School Junior ROTC cadets help with setting tables, bussing and cleaning. Several men frpm the church volunteer to cook the turkeys.
The meal will be purchased, cooked and served by the congregation. The menu consists of turkey dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls and a variety of desserts.
To ensure there is room for all to attend, members of the community and Navy service members and their families are invited at noon, and the church congregation will eat at 2 p.m.
