It’s Winter Wonderland at Northside

Northside Early Learning Center will be hosting its fifth annual Winter Wonderland Family Craft Night at the Fallon Convention Center on Thursday from 4:30–7:30 p.m.

Principal Gregg Malkovich said he couldn’t be happier with the support and the donations from the parents and businesses.

“I can’t express my gratitude enough,” Malkovich said. “The support and donations from the parents and businesses is truly tremendous and I can’t say thank you enough.”

Malkovich said the school currently has 40 baskets for the silent auction but by the night of the event NELC will have 50 baskets for the auction. He said there will also be 100 items that will be raffled.

Malkovich said all proceeds from the event go toward new playground equipment for the school.

“The school district has been updating the school and will continue to do so until it is complete,” Malkovich said. “We know that we need new equipment on the playground and this is a good way for us to get the money for it. It’s a good event and cause for everyone who participates.”

Treasa Pursley, a pre-K teacher, said the school has partnered with Banner Churchill Community Hospital, Northern Nevada Dairymen, Model Dairy, Papa Murphy’s and Jeff’s Digitex Printing.

“These companies have been very supportive with our cause and we can’t think them enough for their support,” Pursley said.

She said NELC has received donations from both local and Reno businesses.

Some of the silent auction items include Reno Aces tickets, Wolf Pack gear, fitness classes and membership from local gyms and photography packages.

“There is a variety of donations that we received this year and everyone who attends the event will be able to find something they like,” Malkovich said.

Other events and entertainment for the night include free pictures with Santa, crafting three holiday presents for $5, music played throughout the night and pizza sold from Papa Murphy’s.
