Golfers nab 6th, tennis swept

The Fallon girls golf team nabbed a pair of sixth-place finishes this week at Spring Creek and Lowry.

The Lady Wave carded a 470 and 474, respectively, at each tournament.

On Thursday at Lowry, Carissa Parsons led Fallon with a 113. She was followed by Tabitha Park (116), Sara Evans (120), Vivian Ugalde (125), Shelby Neidigh (128) and Angela Shunney (138).

Kaily Beatty of Elko was the top individual shooting an 82. Fernley’s Brittany Evans placed third with a score of 83 followed by Lowry’s Alyssa Dendary with an 86.

Lowry won the tournament with a team score of 366 followed by Elko (398), Fernley (408), Spring Creek (441), South Tahoe (470), Fallon (474) and Dayton (508).

After Brittany Evans, Fernley was led by Hope Stillmock (102), Courtney Dunn (108), Brooke Jeakins (115) and Emma Young (146).

On Wednesday at Spring Creek, Parsons again led the Lady Wave with a 109. She was followed by Sara Evans (110), Park (119), Neidigh (141), Ugalde (132) and Shunney (140).

Fernley was led by Brittany Evans (80), Stillmock (83), Dunn (102), Jeakins (112) and Young (147).

Lowry took the team honors with a 368 followed by Elko (391), Fernley (377), Spring Creek (437), South Tahoe (458), Fallon (470) and Dayton (528).


Tennis swept by Damonte Ranch

The Fallon tennis teams both fell, 10-8, to Damonte Ranch on Thursday.

The Lady Wave, playing in Reno, had another strong performance from the doubles tandem of Josie Bekaires and Hannah Lindsay. The duo went 3-0 for the third straight match.

No. 1 singles player Becky Conner lost her first match 6-0, but rallied for two wins, losing only one game in the process. Melanie Nuckolls and Kayla Bekaires added a win, while singles player Sarah Inglis also grabbed a victory.

On the boys side, the doubles teams of Tyler Wood and Martin Beyer and Adam Wadsworth and Garrett Kalt carried the team. Both tandems went 3-0, while the No. 3 double pairing of Joe Jamieson and Jumel Villacarlos went 2-1.

For the third straight match, the singles players did not record a win.
