The Lady Wave volleyball showed no recentness Wednesday evening in derailing Sparks.
Fallon easily handled Sparks in a three-game sweep that included a shutdown in the final game. The Lady Wave won its second match in a row after defeating the Railroaders, 25-15, 25-16 and 25-0.
Miranda Ford led a well-balanced attack with a game-high six kills as every player but one recorded a kill. As a team, Fallon recorded 21 kills with Evan Matheson, Mary Scholz, Taylor Amezquita, Sheila Clifford, Ali Tedford and Kristyn Arvizo each having two.
The Lady Wave was also strong at the service line with 10 aces, including two each from Shelby Smith, Amezquita and Arvizo. Matheson and Clifford recorded the only blocks with each having two block assists.
Scholz led the team with three digs while Amezquita dished out a game-high 12 assists.
Fallon completes its three-game road trip with a non-conference game in Lovelock on Tuesday. After its match against Pershing County, Fallon returns home next Friday and Saturday when the Lady Wave host Spring Creek and Elko.
Tennis swept by Galena
The Fallon girls tennis team stumbled Tuesday against Galena at the Edward Arciniega Complex.
The Lady Wave lost, 13-5, Fallon ends the regular season Thursday at Carson.
Josie Bekiares and Hannah Lindsay, the club’s No. 1 doubles team, won two matches as did No. 1 singles player Becky Conner. Sarah Inglis also nabbed a win in the home finale.
At Galena, the boys team lost 14-4. The No. 2 doubles team of Garrett Kalt and Adam Wadsworth won twice, while Ty Wood and Martin Beyer and Joe Jamieson and Jumel Villacarlos each won one match.
