April 25, 1924 - September 26, 2013

Eddie Buckner left our world on September 26th. He told us he was going to stake out the most perfect fishing lake in heaven and would be there waiting for us.

Eddie was born April 25, 1924 at Lake Tahoe and moved with his family to Fallon where he lived most of his life. As a child he helped his grandparents maintain and beautify Oats Park School and had the honor of having Laura Mills as one of his teachers. He served in the South Pacific during WWII, worked on several ranches in Nevada, for TCID and retired from Sierra Pacific Power Company.

In 1950 he met the love of his life, Bernadine Corlett, while fishing at Camel Creek. He said he knew she was the girl for him from the moment he saw her with her jet black hair and blue eyes, dressed in jeans and carrying a fishing pole. They married on October 1, 1950.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Bernadine; son, Rod Buckner; daughter, Sue Buckner (Doug); grandchildren, Denis Isbister (Jessie), Jamie Isbister (Chad), Karen Isbister (Eli), Cassie Buckner (Lindsay), Haley Buckner (Joey); great granddaughter, Hannah and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eddie loved fishing, hunting and the great outdoors especially with his family.

Karen said it so well on behalf of the family:

Our grandpa Eddie wasn’t just “a grandpa” he was our hero, best friend, second father, story teller, and comedian. Anyone who was lucky enough to know “Tex” knows that his main goal in life was to make people smile. He had a way of making everyone around him feel special. A piece of my heart is missing that will never be replaced and I know those of you who had the pleasure of being a part of his life understand the heartache. Before he died he told me that if he can make people smile. . . it’s all worth it. Those will be words I promise to live by. Making those around you feel happy is the greatest lesson he taught us all. None of us (including grandpa) were ready for him to leave. He was so full of life and energy. He didn’t just exist, he LIVED every day. He loved my grandma for 63 wonderful years. He loved us all so very much. We will miss him every single day.

Services are planned for a later date.
