Empty Bowls Project to benefit FISH

Local artists are donating handmade bowls for a fundraising event to take place during the Capital Tree Lighting ceremony on Dec. 6.

Restaurants are providing the soup and bread that will fill Empty Bowls. For a minimum donation of $10, you may select one of the bowls and enjoy a warm winter meal to launch the holiday season. The artisan bowl is yours to keep. There also will be an art auction at the event.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Friends In Service Helping, a local non-profit that works to feed the hungry.

A bowl making workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St. All ages welcome. No skills required. Call 775-884-2226 for more information.

The empty bowls event will take place from 4-7 p.m., or until the soup runs out, during the Capital Tree Lighting ceremony, at the downtown Ice Skating Rink.

Tickets can be purchased beginning Nov. 4 at the The Children’s Museum and at FISH, 138 E. Long St.
