The Churchill County Library Foundation is hosting its ninth annual Wine Tasting on Saturday at 7 p.m. with all proceeds to benefit the Churchill County Library building fund.
The event will be held at the library, unlike past years where it was held at the convention center. Last year the event had about 75 people in attendance and hope to meet or top that number this year.
Ann Rapp, who is on the Board of Library Trustees and the Library Foundation, has contributed much to the fundraising efforts.
“The local merchant’s have been very supportive,” Rapp said.
The fundraiser accepts donations from local business that are willing to participate in the cause.
Carol Lloyd, library director, said Churchill Vineyards, Scott Harvey Wines and others will provide the wine for the tasting. Expect a wide selection of various reds and whites to be offered.
New to the event is beer tasting, Ruby Mountain and Great Basin breweries will be participating this year, Lloyd said. The breweries will be offering different brews from their wide selection of beers.
On top of the wine and beer tasting, the foundation will also be holding a silent auction of donations from local businesses. There will also be a raffle during the event.
To keep things lively and fun, Lloyd said patrons will be able to participate in a literacy quiz, it will consist of several questions with multiple-choice answers. The winning individual or group will receive a bottle of wine from one of the wineries.
She said the auction items are currently on display at the library for interested bidders, and bid sheets are also available in advance in case people are unable to attend on Saturday.
Snacks will be provided as well as nonalcoholic drinks for individuals who would like other options. The wineries will be selling bottles of wine for those who would like to purchase a bottle or two of their favorites from that night.
Tickets are $25 and include wine and beer tasting and a souvenir wine glass, Lloyd said. Tickets can be purchased at the Churchill County Library before the event or at the door. For information, call 775-423-7581.
