NFB opposes trap registration

Nevada Farm Bureau strongly opposes the Nevada Wildlife Commission’s proposed regulation to register traps used on private property to protect private property.

On Oct. 7, the Nevada Wildlife Commission, on an 8-0 vote, passed a regulation that would require all traps to be registered and have a 1/8 metal tag applied to the trap. This regulation would apply to all traps including mousetraps. The Commission deleted the private property exemption.

“Nevada Farm Bureau is concerned that the Wildlife Commission deleted the private property exemption in the regulation,” said Nevada Farm Bureau Lobbyist Doug Busselman. “Nevadans have the right to protect their private property and traps used on private property should not have to be registered.”

Nevada Farm Bureau urges all Nevadans to contact the legislators that serve on Nevada Legislative Commission and request to defeat the Nevada Wildlife Commission’s proposed regulation.
