Herbert “Herb” Henry Peters
Longtime Fallon resident, Herbert Henry Peters passed away on October 13, 2013. He was born February 3, 1924 in Clear Lake, Minnesota to Fred Peters and Annie Hoeck Peters.
Herb entered the US Navy in December of 1942 and proudly served on several ships before being honorably discharged after the end of WWII.
Returning home to Minnesota, Herb worked as a meat cutter for Swift & Co. Herb lived in South St. Paul with wife, Bonnie, sons, James and David until going into business as owner and operator of Stockman’s Restaurant and Casino, in 1969.
In 1985, Herb married his cherished wife, Sharon. Over the next few years there time was split between homes in Fallon, and Walker Lake always accompanied by their beloved dog, Mickey.
Herb retired in 1989, when he and sold Stockman’s to his son, James and daughter-in-law, Kathryn. In his retirement he enjoyed spending more time with his cherished wife, grandchildren, pets, and outdoor yard and home improvements. Of course there was always his ever present love of bowling. He was a Mason for 60 years and always wore his Mason ring which brought him much attention from other Lodge members around the nation.
Herb was bestowed a life time membership in VFW for his time and many charitable donations. He annually sponsored and bowled on the Stockman’s Casino bowling team for the Fallon League.
Herb deeply loved his pets which included horses, dogs and cats. He and Sharon joined Churchill Animal Protection Society and became volunteers. During their almost 10 years of volunteering they adopted three dogs.
Preceded in death by his father and mother; four brothers, Ernie, Ferd, Walter and Art and two sisters, Christine and Freda.
Herb is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sharon; his sister, Mary; his sons, James (Joyce), David (Laura) and Bob Reed (Jen), and his daughter, Peg Buckner (Michael Hewitt); grandchildren, Elizabeth (Shane), Alixandra, Evan (Ashley), Alysia, Cassie (Lindsay), Haley (Joey), Angelica, Adriana, Bryce, and Bailey and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Herb’s life will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 4 :00 p.m. at The Gardens Chapel.
