A new Nevada license plate goes on sale Monday, with proceeds benefiting rural airports.
The Nevada Airports Association specialty plate depicts a two-engine plane in one corner, with the slogan “sky is the limit.”
Revenue from the plate sales will go into the Nevada Aviation Trust Fund, which is used to provide a required 5 percent local match for Federal Aviation Administration airport improvement grants. The trust fund benefits general aviation airports, excluding Clark County and Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority.
NAA officials say the plate sales will provide a revenue source for 44 rural airports.
The specialty plates cost an initial $61 and $30 for renewals. Of that, the association will receive $25 from the initial issuance and $20 from each renewal.
