Sgt. Mike Cullen and Deputy Joey Trotter have recently returned to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office after attending motorcycle maneuverability and precision riding skills training and competition in Milwaukee, Wisc.
More than 130 officers from departments throughout the country competed against each other for a chance to win one of two 2014 Harley-Davidson FLH Touring Police motorcycles valued at $25,000 each, which would be given to the officer’s department.
One motorcycle would be given away after elimination of riders during the competition. Only the top 10 riders would get a chance to win one of the motorcycles. The other would be given away in a drawing at the end of the event.
While Cullen and Trotter didn’t win the motorcycle during the training, Trotter did win the drawing.
“(I was) So surprised and happy I could not contain myself,” he said.
Cullen returned with a fifth place overall team plaque. Cullen was teamed up with three other riders: Paul Pisani (Toronto Police Service, Canada), Dennis Bedingfield (Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Texas), and Steven Aguiar (Toronto Police, Canada).
The motorcycle has been ordered but a delivery date is undetermined. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the community and local sponsors for their support in helping to send the officers to this event.
