For the first time since Fallon dominated the state last decade, the Lady Wave volleyball team won a tournament after sweeping the competition in Northern California.
After losing a nonconference match in Reno earlier in the week, Fallon came back with three wins against Lassen, Surprise Valley and Greenville over the weekend in the Lassen Tournament. The Lady Wave (7-3) won each match in straight sets as Fallon opened league play on Tuesday.
Fallon defeated Surprise Valley, 25-17 and 25-7, and escaped the host, 25-15 and 25-23. Fallon knocked off Greenville, 25-9 and 25-20.
Before competing in the tournament, Fallon traveled to North Reno to compete against North Valleys. After splitting two matches last year against the Division I, the Lady Wave gave the Panthers a tough battle despite losing in three sets. North Valleys rallied in the first to win 25-19 before winning the next two by the same score, 25-23.
Fallon hosted Fernley on Tuesday, but results were not available at press time. The Lady Wave travel to Spring Creek on Friday and Elko on Saturday.
