There are still some tickets available for the Hot Buttered Rum performance tomorrow night at the Art Center.

Hot Buttered Rum is one of the most popular groups on the Bluegrass/Americana festival circuit; from the Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo to the High Sierra and Telluride Bluegrass festivals, the band has played them all.

The band’s easy going demeanor and charisma have created a loyal and enthusiastic fan base and they perform more than 150 gigs a year. Their latest studio album is “Limbs Akimbo” and this was followed up by last year’s “Live in the Sierra.”

Their shows are a rollicking good time and their instrumentation—violin, mandolin, banjo, stand-up bass and drums/percussion—allows them to cover a range of musics from Bluegrass and country ballads to Jazz-tinged instrumental improvisations. The shows offer something for all musical tastes.

The band will also hold a free and open to the public conversation at 3 p.m. in the Center’s Art Bar. The performance will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $17 for CAC members, $20 for non-members and can be picked up at Jeff’s Copy Express or by calling Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440.

Coming on Sept. 28 is Ales for Arts IV, the fourth of CAC’s annual craft beer festivals. This event is held in the Art Center’s courtyard and features a variety of craft brews along with music by Old River Road featuring Dineen Little.

The event, which raises funds to help present CAC’s 2013 2014 programs, will enable participants to sample brews from Brewer’s Lair of the Lost Sierra, Bunejug Brewing (Ed Rybold, Harve Smith and Gary Wick), Great Basin, High Sierra, Lagunitas, Ruby Mountain, Sierra Nevada and Barry Cochran’s porter and saison.

The event will be held from 3-7 p.m. Admission is $25 per person for unlimited tastings of the beers of your choice. Participants will also receive a free commemorative glass. Special T-shirts and a variety of sausages and other snacks will be available for purchase. For information, call Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440.
