RENO — Carson High’s volleyball team evened its D-1 record to 1-1 with an easy 25-12, 25-17 and 25-10 win over Hug Thursday night.

“I’m pleased with how we played,” coach Robert Maw said. “We mixed things up a little. A lot of girls got to see the court. We didn’t get a chance to dig many balls. We served the ball well tonight.”

Carson used the match as a tune-up to get ready for a home match against Manogue on Monday and an away match against Galena on Tuesday.

Savannah Smith led the team with six kills and three digs, while Skylar Jones came off the bench to record four kills. Kylie Riske also had four kills. Makenzie Tucker, who has been called up to varsity permanently, recorded seven aces. Libero Jaycie Roberts had four aces.

Maw said that middle blocker Gina Peacock will be sidelined one more week.
