Rock climbing the walls in Yosemite in less than 19 hours, wingsuit BASE jumping and mountain biking on dirt spines in China’s Gobi desert are a few of the films hitting the road in advance of Tahoe Film Festival 2013.
Eight action/adventure films highlighting the progression of individual sports during the year will be shown 7 p.m. Sept. 27 in the CVIC Hall in Minden.
“I think there’s a void in that genre of what went on each year in action and adventure films, and how things have progressed,” producer Todd Offenbacher said. “The road tour we’re doing in Minden, Mammoth and the West Coast is a collection of the films. People love it.”
This is the 12th year for the film festival, which takes place at the MontBleu Resort in Stateline.
Each film is independently produced by professional and amateur videographers. Offenbacher is hosting the showing in Minden and introducing each film.
Proceeds from the Sept. 27 viewing will benefit the Carson Valley Arts Council’s Building Fund.
“This is art. Cinematography is an art form I want to expose people to here,” CVAC board member Dave Rich said. “We live in an outstanding area for these sports. The people who are doing this are the best in what they are doing.”
A raffle for various items will be held during the night.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7. Tickets cost $15 each.
