Laurie Brooks Buck was born on Sept 20, 1961 in New Haven Ct, the daughter of Judy and Vern Buck. She died March 22, 2014 in Reno Nevada. She and her loving partner of 20 years Bill Frey shared a home in Carson City NV.
Laurie was raised in Seattle, Washington where she graduated from the University of Washington. After receiving her law degree from University of Utah, she passed the bar in Nevada. She was a Deputy Attorney General for the state of Nevada until she retired on medical disability in 2007. She is survived by her partner Bill Frey, her parents Judy Buck of Quincy, CA and Vern Buck of Seattle WA., her sister Nancy Sanders and nephew Ryan Wilson of
Hermosa Beach CA, her Aunt Nancy West of Clayton GA., Bill’s sisters Meg and Katie Frey, and friend Patti Briggs of Carson city. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Polly Bennallack. Laurie loved the natural world, skiing, hiking, flowers and birds but especially her and Bill’s miniature schnauzer dogs, Arizona and Kenai. She had a strong sense of justice and a keen wit and a love of music. She lived with courage through the changes which multiple sclerosis brought to the last 10 years of her life. Remembrances can be made to the Committee to Save Mono Lake.
