Fallon rodeo club starts strong

The Fallon rodeo club is off to a solid start for the spring season.

In Yerington last weekend, Jessica Gomes placed third in cutting in the second go and sixth in the first go.

Mackary Spyrow came up strong in team roping with a second-place finish on Sunday and third on Saturday. Spyrow added an eighth-place finish in tie-down roping on Sunday.

Jes Tews, though, left his mark in tie-down roping as he placed second in the average and added a second-place finish on Sunday and was sixth on Saturday.

Sam Goings took seventh in tie-down on Saturday, while Blain Jensen was seventh on Sunday.

Jensen and Tews partnered in team roping and came out third on Sunday, while Billy and Levi Quillan took seventh.

On Friday, the middle school cowboys and cowgirls competed in two full rodeos.

In the first go, Chloe Lambert finished second in girls goat tying, Matt Goings placed fifth in boys goat tying and Leighton Beyer took sixth in barrels.

In the second go, Chloe Lambert placed fourth in girls goat tying, Matt Goings placed seventh in boys goat tying, third in boys breakaway and second in team roping with partner Leighton Beyer. Leighton also placed seventh in pole bending.
