High Sierra Brewing Co., which closed its location in Carson City last month, will pair with Baldini’s Casino in Sparks to open there in late August, according to an announcement from the partnering outlets.

“High Sierra is one of the West’s most up and coming brewers, and we are extremely excited to be able to bring them to Baldini’s Casino and the Reno-Sparks area,” said Pete McHugh, Baldini’s marketing director.

Jim Phalan of High Sierra said the firm enjoyed its run in Carson City but is pleased to be partnering with Baldini’s, which he said “has had a successful business for many years.”

Phalan, who also operates the Firkin & Fox restaurant and bar in Carson City, left the High Sierra location owned by the property arm of the Hop & Mae Adams Foundation at 302 N. Carson St. in late March. He said then that his lease would have been up at mid-year and he was seeking an investor.

He had been in negotiations with Steve Neighbors, the foundation’s trustee, about the lease, but left when that didn’t work out. Neighbors will renovate the structure for one or more new tenants.

In Sparks, High Sierra will occupy the former Baldini’s buffet site. Renovations are to begin immediately. High Sierra intends to employ 20 people in a taproom that will seat more than 150 customers. Included will be an outdoor patio and seating area, according to the news release issued by McHugh and Phalan.
