Two women who honed their decorating skills in life and at Greenhouse Garden Center opened Decor & Mor this month in a small shop not far south of that Carson City center.

Janet Snipes and Lorelei Logan said they worked at the center 25 years and nine years, respectively, enhancing their interest in and penchant for decor and building toward this opportunity.

“My dream of opening my own boutique has now come true,” said Snipes, citing her quarter-century of experience at the center. She also spent an earlier decade at Incline Village in a different form of retailing.

“I think that this has prepared me for Decor & Mor,” she said.

The shop, located in an 1,100-square-foot shop at 2578 S. Curry St., is filled with new decorative items, including art or wall hangings, as well as gifts and furnishings. It has been open since April 1.

The women were asked how the first week went. “Fabulous,” said Snipes at the same time here partner said, “Great.”

“I kept telling her we should do this,” said Logan. “We finally did.”

“We bit the bullet,” said her compatriot.

Snipes, who came to the area from Oklahoma in the late 1970s, had a liquor store with her late husband in Incline Village in the 1980s. Logan, originally a Californian, had work experience across the employment spectrum before she met Snipes and was with the garden center. She said that among those opportunities was a period doing carpentry before the near decade of decor work with the garden center.

Not only does the pair offer new goods in the store, they will provide services for interior decoration decisions by coming to people’s homes. The store’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
