Jill Andrews is the winner of the CC Communications 16th annual Directory Cover Contest. Her winning photograph, “Pony Express Rider,” will be featured on the front cover of the company’s 2014-2015 Telephone Directory, which is distributed in July throughout Churchill County, Fernley, Silver Springs and Wadsworth.
Contest entries were judged on composition, originality and the expression of the contest theme, “Western Traditions of Churchill County.”
CC Communications General Manager Mark Feest presented Andrews with the $250 first-prize check. He said, “CC Communications celebrates in 2014 its 125th year of being the telecommunications provider for Churchill County. Andrews’ winning photograph represents our history of connecting our customers to the rest of the world, in the same spirit as the Pony Express Mail Service it celebrates.”
The photo depicts the historic Pony Express mail run as replayed each year by members of the National Pony Express Association, of which Andrews is a member. The Pony Express was a horseback delivery service between St. Joseph, Mo., and Sacramento, Calif., that reduced the time for mail to travel from coast to coast by 10 days.
The CC Communications Directory Cover Contest gives residents of Churchill County the chance to contribute to the development of the telephone directory and showcases local talent. Entry fees for the contest are donated by CC Communications to a charitable community service organization in Churchill County.
