Dini set a great example with his bipartisan spirit
On behalf of the Board of County Commissioners and Lyon County, we are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend, neighbor, businessman, Rotarian and firefighter Joe Dini. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the Dini family.
Joe Dini was the shining example of a statesman and all public servants, appointed or elected, should strive to be the example that Joe was. Joe was successful in the Legislature because he was willing and able to work through issues and problems. He did not see things from a north-south, urban-rural or Democrat-Republican point of view. He saw things from a State of Nevada point of view.
He and his family have operated a successful business in Yerington and have been great contributors to the community. He served in the Yerington Volunteer Fire Department, Rotary Club and numerous other civic groups. He was a champion for mental health issues throughout the state.
Lyon County is proud that Joe Dini was a lifelong resident and his words of wisdom, quiet approach, and grace as a gentleman will be missed. Mr. Speaker, we thank you for your service to our community.

Cartoon tweaking NRA was vile and offensive
I have noticed that your political cartoons lately have taken a decidedly leftward slant. The cartoon in your April 6 edition depicting the NRA as being in favor of “gun violence,” however, I regard as especially vile and offensive.
This organization, almost 150 years old, is one of the largest certifying bodies for firearm safety training and proficiency training courses for police departments, recreational hunting, and child firearm safety. I very much doubt there is a single one of its more than 5 million members who is in favor of “gun violence.”
If that is what you are looking for, talk to some of the corrupt politicians in this country who say one thing and do quite something else. They are becoming increasingly easy to find.
