Carson High’s softball squad couldn’t stand prosperity.

The Senators fought back from a 6-2 deficit to tie the game at 6 in the fifth inning, but then three errors led to four unearned runs and a 12-6 loss to McQueen in windy conditions Tuesday at Carson High.

The loss dropped the Senators to 6-7 on the year. The teams play Thursday at 3:45 p.m. at McQueen.

Bayley Miller walked to open the sixth against Jen Purcell, the third of three CHS pitchers used by Shelby Tuttle. Kat Moore reached on an error by second baseman Aubrey Northrup. After Madison Rown popped out to first, Sadaria McAlister grounded to second.

Northrup’s throw to third to throw out Miller was wild, allowing Miller to score. Moore reached third and McAlister took second on the play. Martinez followed with a two-run double to right-centerfield that bounced off the top of the fence and was corralled by Perry. That made it 9-6. Mackayla Fautt singled and Anna Zimmerman followed with a run-scoring single to make it 10-6.

Moore’s two-run homer to right in the top of the seventh closed out the game’s scoring.

A homer by Becka Breuer and sacrifice fly by Kaitlyn Jimmy sliced McQueen’s lead to 4-2. A three-run double by Bailey Allen closed the McQueen lead to 6-5 and Malia Tiffer’s single tied the game before the roof caved in on the Senators in the sixth.

Allen led Carson with three hits, while Michelle Perry, Tiffer and Breuer added two each.
