July 24, 1932 - April 9, 2014

Dick was born in Sheepshead Bay, New York and raised in the Bronx. He spent many summers at his Grandma’s home in Coney Island. At the outbreak of the Korean War he joined the Navy. He was at Eniwetok Island for six atomic tests and one hydrogen test. Following that he spent thirty-two months in Korean waters. He was at all the invasions of Inchon Harbor. He drove the small boats (dubbed one way tickets) used for ferrying the men to shore. After four years in the Navy he made his home in California. He became a painter like his dad. Dick and I met in 1956 and spent 58 wonderful years together. He was a great husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He is survived by his son, Michael (wife Tina), daughter, Christina, grandsons, Ben (wife April), their children, Gracie and Gabriel, Grandson, Daniel and his children, Hailee and Ryan and Grandson, Nicholas. He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie, and daughter Tracy, grandson Kevin (wife Ashley), and daughter, Sierra. It was always family first. We travelled all over the United States and Canada with kids, grandkids and great-grand kids. We square-danced for 25 years. After retirement we joined a hiking and skiing group and enjoyed our friendships in the mountains. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew. His services will be held on May 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St Teresa of Avila Church with a Celebration of Life following in Chartz Hall. Please no flowers and donations may be made to St. Teresa’s Church or School. Wear something bright, Dick never liked black.
