Wave swimmers crush Sparks

Both the Fallon boys and girls swim teams easily dispatched Sparks on Friday in Incline.

The Greenwave boys defeated the RailCity school, 129-51, while the Lady Wave won 148-63.

For the boys, the 200-yard medley relay team of Kyle Grimes, Austin Thomas, Garrett Snooks and William Reece posted a time of 2 minutes, 12.85 seconds, as Sparks didn’t’ field a team. Sparks didn’t field any swimmers in the 200 free as Hadyn Klein finished in 2:40.55 and Louie Mori in 2:45.79.

Snooks was the only representative of both teams in the 200 individual medley as he swam it in 2:54.46. Grimes led Fallon to a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 23.39 while Klein, Reece, Nathan Narag, Mori, Davis Koenig and Eric Endacott placed in the top 10.

Snooks was the only one in the 100 butterfly as he recorded a 1:17.6, while Reece, Thomas, Nick Amerson, Brandon Romine and Lance Turnham placed third through seventh in the 100 freestyle. Reece finished it in 1:06.36, while Thomas’ time was 1:09.84, followed by Amerson (1:10.78), Romine (1:27.29) and Turnham (1:40.88).

Narag won the 500 freestyle in 7:30.70, almost 45 seconds less than his Sparks competitor. Grimes and Koenig went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke with Grimes finishing it in 1:08.25 and Koenig in 1:32.32. Thomas won the 100 breaststroke in 1:26.94, followed by Amerson in second at 1:27.94 and Endacott in fourth at 1:52.53.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Narag, Snooks, Reece and Grimes won in 1:54.43, while the 400 freestyle relay team of Koenig, Mori, Amerson and Narag finished 8 seconds behind Sparks for second as the Railroaders won in 4:48.14.

The girls were just as dominating against Sparks.

Fallon’s two 200 medley relay teams finished as the top two because Sparks was disqualified.

Addyson Harmon, Danielle Brown, Katrina Ward and Sierra Bivens teamed up for a time of 2:25.59, while Michelle Ward, Josey Moore, Amber Revels and Josie Bekiares came in at 2:38.5.

Moore, Brown and Ward placed first through third in the 200 yard freestyle with Moore recording a 2:55.07. Brown swam the event in 2:56.55 while Ward came in at 3:24.06.

Ward was the only participant in the 200 individual medley as she recorded a finals time of 2:50.93. Kaelehm Nemeth won the 50 freestyle in 29.44, followed by Bivens (30.09), Bekiares (30.61) and Harmon (32.89).

Ward won the 100 butterfly in 1:16.36 followed by Amber Revels in 1:24.99, while Nemeth won the 100 freestyle in 1:06.43. Bekiares (1:08.88) and Bivens (1:08.95) followed and Ward (1:28.74) took sixth.

Revels was the only swimmer in the 500 freestyle as she completed it in 8:11.76, and Harmon won the 100 backstroke in 1:26.16. Brown won the 100 breaststroke in 1:32.94 and Moore took third in 1:40.33.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Ward, Bekiares, Nemeth and Bivens won the event in 2:03.2, while the 400 freestyle relay team of Revels, Harmon, Moore and Nemeth won in 4:55.22.
