Glen McAdoo’s article of April 14 states, “They can’t handle the truth,” blasting Tea Party people for their beliefs, He then laments negative reactions he receives. Whenever I respond to McAdoo, I’ve always been respectful, using facts to back my statements, avoiding ad hominem attacks. Perhaps McAdoo should do the same?

I’d appreciate McAdoo more if he elaborated on issues with Obama’s presidency. Let’s begin with Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the suppression of conservative groups by the IRS, numerous foreign affair disasters, his Attorney General’s contempt of Congress, the lack of transparency, the worst economic recovery in more that 30 years, and last but not least, the “not so Affordable Care Act.”

Whenever anyone questions Obama, or his cabinet, rather than respond to the issue they’re called “racist.” As I recall, blacks are about 10 percent of the population. It took a lot of racist whites to get Obama elected. It was Republicans who crossed the political aisle supporting passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Bill, backing President LBJ over the objections of southern Democrats.

Have you noticed that fewer people are writing to the LVN? When I inquire, their response is that “they’re more afraid of our government and what might happen to them, then our enemies’ abroad fear from America.” Regardless of your beliefs, is this the America you want to live in? I trust not.

I hope that more will share your thoughts and concerns by writing to the LVN. It’s one of our fundamental freedoms, and “There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.” Mr. McAdoo, if you’re wondering about this quote, it’s from Martin Luther King, whose niece refers to his being a lifelong Republican.
