Perazzo pleads no contest in drug case

A 25-year-old Fallon man pleaded no contest Tuesday in District Court on a drug charge.

Tyler Perazzo entered an Alford plea to one count of possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance for the purpose of sale. He faces one to four years in prison, although Perazzo is eligible for probation.

An Alford plea stipulates the defendant does not admit the crime, but that the prosecution could prove the charges as well as other counts.

Perazzo was arrested June 7 after police responded to his residence on a report of domestic violence.

Upon a search, police discovered psilocybin mushrooms, indoor grow lights, an industrial drier, a humidity controller, a high velocity fan, a carbon air filter and a grain sprawl.

Authorities sized more than 7 grams of mushrooms on the scene.

Perazzo, though, was originally charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled substance, 4-14 grams, and one count of offer, attempt or commission of an unauthorized act relating to manufacturing of certain controlled substances.

Perazzo remains out of jail on his own recognizance, although he must continue to report to Court Services for random drug testing. He will be sentenced Sept. 23.

Jonathon Wayne Brown pleaded guilty Tuesday in District Court to one count of conspiracy to commit a felony crime under the Uniform Controlled Substance Act.

According to the criminal complaint, Brown conspired with Robert Hesselgesser to sell methamphetamine in February.

He faces one to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He will be sentenced Sept. 23.

A 27-year-old Fallon was arrested on a suspicion of gross lewdness with a child under 14.

Donald Arthur Evans IV was booked into the jail by Fallon police after an investigation discovered sexual misconduct with two children, according to FPD Capt. Vern Ulrich.

Ulrich said the children are under 10 and reported the alleged crime to their parents. He added the suspected abuse took place several times over a three-week period.

Once the parents were informed of the suspected acts they contacted police, who initiated an investigation.

Evans is currently being held in jail on $300,000 bond.

A Churchill County deputy district attorney suffered minor injuries after being hit by a suspected drunk driver on July 3.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol Public Information Officer David Gibson, Deputy DA Ben Newman’s 2002 Nissan Sentra was rear-ended by Deanna Kaye Douglas of Fallon around 5:20 p.m. Douglas was not injured, although Newman suffered a minor injury, according to Gibson.

Gibson said Newman, 33, was travelling westbound on U.S. Highway 50 and entered the left run lane at Casey Road. Douglas, 41, was driving behind Newman when she hit the DA with her 2001 Ford F-150.

Gibson said troopers suspect alcohol and drugs were a factor in the collision. Douglas was arrested for driving under the influence and following too close.

She was booked into the Churchill County Jail and posted $1,340 bond. Her intial court date is pending.

This is the second suspected DUI-related incident involving a notable Fallon resident this year. Former Sheriff Rich Ingram was the victim of an alleged hit and run in March.

Jennifer Czichotzki is charged with one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury and three misdemeanor charges including driving under the influence. Her case is currently pending.
