Lyon County firefighters responded on Monday afternoon to a structure fire in Silver Springs.
Central Lyon County Fire District Chief John Gillenwater said the home on Tamarack and East 2nd streets was “quite a distance out” and was fully involved when they arrived on scene.
With support from Mason Valley and Lyon County, he said they used water tenders to douse the flames.
“The good news is we never ran out of water,” he said.
Nonetheless, Gillenwater said the home was a total loss including the motor home parked next to it and a couple of out-buildings.
But no one was hurt and he said firemen managed to help recover the family’s pets including the dogs, duck, rabbits and cats. The Red Cross responded to help the family.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
