Local organizations and numerous local churches have made special plans to celebrate the holiday.

On Christmas Day, the American Legion, 90 N Ada St., will be serving Christmas dinner from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Volunteers will be delivering dinners as part of the Meals on Wheels program. If anyone would like to volunteer to deliver meals or to help served at the legion, individuals are encouraged to contact the American Legion at 775-423-3008 and ask for Lance McNeil.

Many of Fallon’s churches have also planned events for the Christmas holiday.

First Southern Baptist, 900 S. Taylor St., has a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m.

Oasis Community Church, 1520 S. Maine St., has a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m.

The Christian Life Center, 1435 Kaiser St., will have a Christmas Even Candlelight service at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Epworth United Methodist Church, 280 E. Stillwater Ave., will have a Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m.,7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

Parkside Bible Fellowship, 485 Tedford Lane, will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m

Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 507 Churchill St., will have a Christmas Eve service, Holy Eucharist and Vigil at 7 p.m. Christmas Day Holy Eucharist will be at 10 a.m.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1770 S. Taylor St., will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. a

Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1191 E. Stillwater Ave., will be having a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m.

Fallon Church of the Nazarene, 1520 Grimes St., will hold a Christmas Eve service from 6-7 p.m.

These are the only churches that responded.


Nevada NewsMakers

Churchill County High School student body president Blane Merkley will appear on the 11th annual Teen Edition Opportunity for Nevada NewsMakers on Christmas Day. (KRNV-TV-Channel 4 Reno: 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Nevada NewsMakers, hosted by Sam Shad, is a half-hour news and public affairs program that runs Monday-Thursday on various Nevada television and radio stations.


Holiday closures

All federal, state and local government offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Naval Air Station Fallon is operating on a holiday schedule.

All K-12 schools are closed from Dec. 22 to Jan. 5 with school resuming on Jan. 6.

Financial institutions are closed Thursday. Check with your financial institution regarding when the days they will be closed and opening back up.

LVN will be closed Christmas Eve after 3 p.m. and all day on Christmas.
