A player heading to a Division I school and a defensive change proved to much to handle for the Carson High boys basketball team in a 41-27 loss to Godinez of Santa Ana, Calif., in the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic in San Diego on Monday.
Carson led 10-7 after one quarter, but Godinez switched to a 1-3-1 zone in the second quarter and outscored the Senators 14-2 to take a 21-12 halftime lead. “They’re very long,” Carson coach Carlos Mendeguia said. “They just really caused havoc for us.”
