The Greenwave wrestling team wrapped up their tournament portion of the regular season and now look ahead to this weekend’s Northern Division I-A duals in Fernley.
Fallon concluded two months worth of tournaments with the Yerington Duals on Saturday in Lyon County by finishing 4-1 against a mixture of teams from the I-A and III divisions.
“We wrestled well. I really felt it was solid,” Fallon coach Mitch Overlie said. “Of course, there were a few matches we could have wrestled better.”
Fallon defeated Silver Stage (72-12), South Tahoe (62-18), ROP (48-24) and Lowry JV (48-36) over the weekend but fell to Battle Mountain (48-35).
Four wrestlers didn’t lose a match while four others won four of five.
Ricky Rogers, Jesse Francki, Trae Workman and Anthony Sabatino each went undefeated in five bouts, while Clay Amezquita, Dakota Schelling, Wyatt Hampton and Robert White each went 4-1. Overlie said the rest of the team varied, either winning two or three bouts in their five contests.
The league duals begin Friday in Fernley and conclude on Saturday when teams in the Division I-A will wrestle one another to determine individual seeding. The regional tournament is Feb. 14-15 when teams will converge in Sparks for the two-day tournament that will determine who qualifies for state in Primm in two weeks.
