Kathy Mortimer passed away at home with her husband, daughters, and sister by her side on February 18, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. She was 4th generation born and raised in Gardnerville. She was born the daughter of Donald and Mildred Kyle on January 21, 1949. Kathy loved her family with a passion. She also loved the ocean, camping, traveling, ATV riding, photography, poetry, spending time with good friends and time at their property in Pioche, NV. In the late 80’s Kathy helped set up the Safe Ride Program that operated out of she and her husband’s shop (Mort’s Auto Body) and she was currently serving as a trustee and board member for the Historical Society. Kathy and her husband owned Mort’s Auto Body for 23 years where she herself operated a tow truck for 15 years before retiring in 2003. Prior to operating their own business Kathy worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles where she became the 2nd female driver examiner in the State of Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Mildred Kyle, Mother and Father In-law Norman and Dolores Mortimer and many family and friends. She is survived by her husband Alan Mortimer, daughters Carrie Nolting and Cristy Menzer, sister Jeanette (Paul) Blackburn of Elko, brother and sisters in-law Gary (Maureen) Mortimer, Joanne Mortimer, Janie Mortimer, Ginny Gunn, grandsons Michael and Ben Nolting, Mitchell and Anthony Menzer, nephews Michael (Brandie & Blake) Aiazzi of Reno and Kyle Blackburn of Portland Oregon, many dear cousins and friends. Graveside memorial service will be held March 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm- Mottsville Cemetery.In lieu of flowers Kathy wished for donations to be made to the: Douglas County Historical Society 1477 Hwy 395 Suite B Gardnerville, NV 89410
