‘Call Me Madam’ coming to CVIC Hall

Carson Valley Community Theatre will present Irving Berlin’s musical comedy “Call Me Madam” over two weekends, March 21-23 and March 28-30, at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Friday and Saturday evening shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and are followed by matinees at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The story is a satire on politics and foreign affairs that parodies America’s lending of money to other countries. The show centers on Sally Adams, a well-meaning but ill-informed socialite widow who is appointed United States ambassador to a small fictional European country.

Rehearsals are under way, with Adams played by Carla Wilson and Lichtenburg’s prime minister played by Jim Dezerga. Tickets can be purchased at www.showtix4U.com or at the CVCT box office, at 1572 Highway 395, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday or at the door. Adult admission is $18, and admission for seniors and students is $16. Tickets for groups of 10 or more can be purchased at a discount price of $2 off regular price at the box office. Dinner and show tickets are available for $52 at Minden Food Co. for the Friday and Saturday performances, and a Sunday champagne brunch before the matinee is available at Minden Meat and Deli for $40.
