Anti-bullying program at Jack Valley is a success

As adults, let’s notice the signs of bullying and the signs of the consequences of bullying. It will require every adult and child in the community to educate what constitutes bullying behavior. Parents, grandparents, employers, educators, sisters and brothers and any adult I did not mention, you must be diligent of the signs of bullying and nip it in the rear-end when it happens.

A columnist mentioned bullying programs in the school. If that columnist wants to see how that operates, please set up a visit with Principal Pam Gilmartin at Jacks Valley Elementary School. She will run over the unbelievable program that through hard work is a success in the Douglas schools (thanks to Carly Strauss). This program is called Safe School Ambassador.

If you go talk to Mrs. “G,” she will tell you it takes a bunch of people to make it successful. Mrs. Gilmartin has an awesome kid-friendly counselor named Jackie Hostler. When Jackie is not playing Jack Sparrow, she is working her tail off to make Jacks Valley Elementary School the safest school ever. Of course, it has to take an awesome head secretary (Carol Patrick) to pull this off as well. That is not counting the volunteer work of great teachers, parents, grandparents, and the awesome children that give up their lunch every two weeks to be a “Safe School Ambassador.”

Look into it, Parent Teacher Student Organization board members. Invest in the money now, and save your school from excessive bullying. Let the children be kids.
