Social amenities at Washoe (City): Last week a ball was given in Washoe on the line of the V. & T. R. R. Some Carsonites went down but were not allowed to take part in the festivities. Crossing the legs: Women are allowed far less latitude of position than men, and it is said that the simple crossing of the legs should not be indulged in even in the privacy of our own rooms. Men seldom sit with two feet on the floor. They raise one till the ankle rests lightly across the other knee. Gov. Richard Bryan is not going to declare a state holiday on the birthday of the slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King. He is hoping the 1985 State Legislature will approve a holiday to coincide with the actions of Congress.
