Wilke to serve as school board president

Stacie Wilke, who is serving her second stint on the Carson City School board, was elected unanimously Tuesday to serve as president.

“I’m looking forward to this adventure,” she said.

Wilke, a 1983 Carson High School graduate, was appointed to the board in 2009 to replace Joe Enge, who resigned. She then was elected in 2010. She served last year as vice president and previously served on the board from 1998-2002.

Ron Swirczek, who served last year as clerk, was elected to serve the one-year term as vice president during the board’s first meeting of the year.

Swirckek, also elected to the board in 2010, ran on the platform of creating community partnerships and is credited with spearheading the effort to create the school district’s strategic plan.

Joe Cacioppo, who was elected in 2012, will serve as board clerk.

Wilke will replace Lynnette Conrad as president.
