Skeletal remains of a woman found in August in the Nevada desert have been identified through DNA as Kimberly Seldon (aka Aporff), the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.

The CCSO followed up on a tip and recovered the remains of Seldon from Aug. 18 a shallow grave north of the Jessup exit off Interstate 80.

Sheriff Ben Trotter said the 43-year-old Seldon was reported missing to the Reno Police Department in December 2012 but was last seen in May of the same year.

Trotter said Seldon went by the name of “Kimmie” and was known to work along the Fourth Street Corridor in Reno.

He said the cause of death is undetermined.

Trotter said if anyone has any information that would assist the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office in this case, call Secret Witness at 775-423-0110 or the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office at 775-423-3116.
