Tenth Judicial Court Judge Thomas Stockard of Fallon received some good news at the end of Friday, the last day filing day for judicial candidates.

Stockard will run unopposed in his re-election bid.

“It’s a good feeling,” he said Monday. “It’s been a great honor to serve so far.”

Stockard, who filed on the first day, said he was anxious to see if anyone else decided to run

“I’ve enjoyed my time thus far and look forward to serving our community for the next six years,” he said.

Two years ago Stockard filed to finish the six-year term of Judge David Huff, who died earlier in the year. Gov. Brian Sandoval appointed Stockard to the bench in July 2012, and he ran for election in November.

Stockard was one of the lucky ones. He said many of the district court judges in southern Nevada have opponents in the primary elections. Two Nevada Supreme Court judges, Kris Pickering and Mark Gibbons, are also running unopposed.

Stockard said in the future, there will be more online filing for various items in Churchill County, and he wants to build on his record of the past two years.
