Former Churchill County Commissioner Norm Frey aims to replace Tom Grady in Assembly District 38.
Grady, a Republican, is termed out of the office.
“As a fourth-generation Nevadan with farming and ranching in my background, I understand the issues that are impacting rural Nevadans in the district,” he said.
Frey, a Republican, is a former county commission chairman and past president of the Nevada Association of Counties. He immediately drew endorsements from Fernley Mayor Leroy Goodman and former Nevada Senate Minority Leader Mike McGinness.
“As a county commissioner, Norm was sensitive to the needs of the entire county and thoughtful in his decision-making,” Goodman said.
“Norm brought to Carson City an excellent working knowledge of the issues,” McGinness said.
Frey operates a 900-acre family farm in Fallon with his wife, Sue. He is a consultant to AgProfessionals of Greeley, Colo., working to increase milk production in western Nevada for Dairy Farmers of America’ new milk-processing plant in Fallon.
“My experience will enable me to be a strong advocate at the Legislature for the anticipated economic development for the region and District 38,” he said.
Assembly District 38 represents Churchill County and part of Lyon County.
